Default Electrical ? Dimmer switch to control grinder speed..

I have an electric die grinder (will be used for polishing)...that turns to fast. Can I wire a dimmer switch in an electrical box... plug into the wall outlet, dimmer switch controls a single 120v plug in the box.. and plug the die grinder into the box?? Turn the dimmer down = turns the speed of the die grinder down???

Thoughts?

I'm sure it would work, but I would guess it would be a race to see which would burn up first- the switch or the grinder.

There is a place I think its www.eastwood.com that sells the correct adapter to do that safely without harm to the tool. I had one of their foot controls, I know they had rheistat style aswell.

Ya, with a grinder, the more you load it the more the amps will go up. I don't no if I would trust that.

You can also use a router speed control.

This one was on Amazon.

Harbor Freight has one for about $20. Not sure of the quality though.

I am going to pick up the HF one, as the grinder came from HF.. also bought the 2 year extended warranty so if I burn up the grinder, i'll replace it free...and not sure it for polishing in the future.
