Default I think I surprised a c-5 owner Saturday night.

As I was pulling away from the light next to TTC on Rivers a C-5 rolled up next to me. I thought I heard him rev, so I smashed the pedal and immediately pulled 4 car lengths... I mean instantly. I don't know if he really tried or what , but I was 10 cars ahead by the time I hit the speed limit (for all the cops reading)

Well we ran a few more times (all were from rolls except once) and I pulled pretty good on him. I think the first race he was not expecting what I had, and might of kept it in a higher gear.

This was the 1st time I have raced anything with power on the street, and one of the first times I really went WOT for any length of time. Boy did the truck feel good. Might get some confidence, and let Jeff set me some races up at Sam's, like hes been trying to do. I still ain't sure it makes sense to go race for a 100 dollars when your taking the chance of loosing your ride and licence.

have you considered a stand alone fuel setup? or is it just not needed?

Yes, I would love to have one. I just don't have the "know how" to do it yet. I have been reading, and with cell and additional pumps its going to be expensive ~$1000.

i don't know how you would engage it on a s/c car (i saw something where it allows it to flow based on boost amount but i forget what it is called) but on a nitrous car i am having it activate when the nitrous is engaged.

i've seen kits for fbodies for less than 600. i am sure you could make one for a lightning for similar price.

Cool, maybe I can take a good look at your setup when you get it back to get some ideas. How big of a cell did you go with? Is the system supplementing the stock system, or is it stand-alone when your using nitrous?

i will be using the regular gas/tank setup all the time, and the fuel cell will be fed into the fuel solenoid when the nitrous comes in. so basically the fuel cell gas is only ran when i am in the kit (which you could do a setup like that for the s/c when it reaches a certain amount of boost). the cell is kind of hard to explain, i guess it is 12"x16'x8' but i am not quite sure. i will show it to ya when i get back.

Alot of guys don't use a stand alone they just have 2 pumps one for motor and one for nitrous . I know Darryl ( LTD ) has 2 pumps one for the motor and one for when the gas comes on that is only used for the fuel side of the nitrous but it still comes from the same tank . I'm just going with a aeromotive A1000 in the notch for both . That way I know I have enough fuel when I'm shooting 175 - 200 . And it will be enough pump for fuel injection as well when it comes time to swap over .

I do know what Paul is talking about . I've seen people use a vortech ice box and convert it into a small fuel cell for nitrous . That way they can run pump gas then when the nitrous is activated the fuel from the ice box is race gas and the fuel side of the nitrous is high octane fuel . It's nice and all but if you have enough fuel pump all that is not needed .

My fuel requirements are a little different than what you guys are talking about.

I am after a complete stand alone fuel system for track use.

I'd also like to take it one step further. I'd like to completely get rid of my stock tank, and use a big cell for 93/street use. Then have a small cell for c-16/track use.

I have heard bad things about the Aeromotive pumps on street cars. Something about them burning up if the vehicle is driven for extended periods (+100 miles)

Most guys I talk to use the MagnaFuel, but of course I have no 1st hand experience so its all a crap shoot.

Well in my experience any burnt vehicle is a bad vehicle!

Jeff H runs one . It's been on the car over a year with plenty of daily driving . He's even drove the car to Jackson several times under it's own power not on a trailer and no fuel pump related issues . He has a probelm with the filter one time there was trash in the line and clogged it up and caused it to over heat , but thats it . I was concerned about the few failures I've read about as well , but again the couple of failures sticks out more than the thousands of people with success with it .

well true, if you go that setup you will be set . i am only doing mine this way for $$ and because i only run race gas when i need to.
