so all this talk lately about ls motors has got me wondering, what would it take to get a ls motor in a fox in the 5teen 5.20 range

A well built 550hp ls plus 300-400 hp nitrous should do it in a typical race fox body @ approx 2700lbs I think. I have been 5.50s with a raggedy windsor and a plate that would just barely make 700 on Tutens dyno

I assume this is for ultimate street. 6.0 h/c/i 300 shot nitrous, Nitrous converter and your 275/60/15. You might need cubic inches, but not much.

There is other variables as well for that class. I know what i plan on running in that class but wont be teens. I know roughly hp. I bet you can go 5.teens to 5.2x with 402 ci

turbo or nitrous?? what's the weight? It would be easier with a turbo. a higher compression 370-408 would do it on a 88mm or so turbo with a 245cc or larger head, thats considering the block has larger diameter head studs, etc..., the stock 4 head bolt blocks can handle 1200 or so rwhp with a spot on tune
a nitrous motor would need to be larger, more in the 420-460" range, on a 6 head bolt block (LSX block, ERL Superdeck, or a RHS Block), and a good bit of compression, with not too much gas on top should get you there. most of the nitrous guys in the 4's are running canted valve mozez headed 6 bolt blocks with a good bit of spray or a 88-9x turbo.

i would personally say i dont think its worth all the work to switch. sbf has proved to work pretty well with the right stuff like any combo. you could have to switch bell housings if you have a glide, new motor plate and stuff. thats just what i think. oh and ls stuff isnt the cheapest stuff when you get away from stock stuff!

Sounds familiar. I'd like to go 5.90s one day.

I don't think L92 heads will take that much of a hit. Deck is too thin, great N/A head though.

I will play. Below are a couple pics of a L92 head that was under a S480 turbo @ 12 psi, car was making 650ish belonged to a buddy of mine in Va. This is the direct result of pushing L92's to far with a power adder. When you push these heads past the 600 RWHP range they don't handle it well or for long there are always exceptions to the rule but not many, This motor also had 1/2" studs and LS9 head gaskets. FYI. Doesn't matter if you go turbo or nitrous the end result is more cylinder pressure and this will eventually be the result. [IMG] [/IMG]
