Truth I would call it a streetable race car, but that car made a 1200 mile round trip in the rain and ripped off a sub 7 sec time then drove home. Has working lights tags and insurance. This is a very extreme example Ill give you that but this guy is willing to drive it on the street and does it.

The whole argument of AC I think is irrelevant as my 68 GTO never had it, only had a heater. Guess it was a factory race car then lol. IMO if its tagged/ insured/ has working lights/ and a DOT tire/Runs on pump gas E85 or 93 and can be driven to a track and run then driven home or taken out for a cruise/driven to work at random reliably. Its a street car. RCF/SG99/Rays mopar/my car/most of SBMs old rides = street cars.

tell ya what i would like to see at some of the street car races..... i wanna see some parallel parking and 3 point turns like you have to do to get your license. lol im sure there is some other stuff you could do to exploit the differences between a "street car" and a "street-able car". it might be a bit far fetched but it would be funny as hell watching the cars trying to do stuff like that.

Your 68 GTO (Read: Monaro) is a factory race car!

Nope it was a real GTO with real poncho power, not a re badged manaro. the new GTO didn't deserve the name. GTO is arguably the first real muscle car and is given credit for starting the craze that is still ongoing today, It was revolutionary for its time and everybody in its time wanted one. The new GTO didn't even come with hood scoops when released in 04 Every goat prior to that did, it was one of its distinguishing features some where functional some.

People can say a new GTO/manaro was/is faster but only when raced against a base GTO, Try a stock 1964 421 tri power or a XS block coded 67 (Also known as Ram Air 1) My dad's car/my car now was a mostly stock Intake/Holley 850/Headers 67 with M21 4 speed, never had AC, had 3.90 gears from the factory and a XS coded motor would routinely run 12.0-12.1 @ 116 factory cam/ internals/ no port and polishing.

Yes the motor is original to the car and was a dealer option only 12 original XS (Also known/sold as Bob Cat or Ram AIR 1 packages) 67 GTO's are known to be in existence today my dads/mine is one of them and has the lowest miles of the group as documented with PHS, this car cam equipped from the factory with the XS engine, M21 close ration 4 speed, 12 BOP with 3.90 and safety track, functioning ram air, and 14" american racing torque thrust II's.

The Bob Cat equipped 421 tri power 1964 GTO ran 11.89 @ 123.28 mph factory as tested from road and track, there were just over 2100 of those cars built and ordered with a 421 most were wrecked either playing on streets or tracks over the years. Road and track also tested its 0-60 at 4.6 seconds the same as the 05-06 GTO. That MPH with current suspension/tire technology would make it a factory 10 sec ride today. Sad it wont be seen today as anyone who has one of these cars wont risk destroying the only machines that will make more money than some of the rare mopars. The people from the PHS to my dad he was crazy when they asked what he was doing with the car and he told them he was going to drive it.

This was possible in 1964 due to a close ratio M-21, 3.90 posi BOP 12 bolt, and the tri power equipped 421 rated at 425HP from the factory. Recent engine testing on new age dyno had it making 485 HP and 520 FT LBS in stock form this testing was done @ Jim Butler racing inc.

Not all GTO's were created equal. Most companies re-badged there cars SS, or BOSS. Mach 1 ect Pontiac didn't do anything different to the exteriors so you never know what you were going to run into. I know my 60s muscle car history pretty well.
