these guys claim they went 9.5@71 and 14.9@91 stock in a 10-15mph headwind.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7613

I think 9.5@71 is optimistic. i was thinking 10.1@71 lol

FWIW, i thought that was the basis of the scion line,
the "big block" motor from the big family sedan in the little car,
just like in the 60's.

the MPG on a camry is 35/25 or so, and a FRS is abit worse.
great MPG is a great thing.

my camry has a 4cyl & a 6speed auto.
it's goofy.....until you drive it awhile, then you are like "ice cold AC, 28mpg mixed, cold AC, streaming blue tooth, cold AC, cruise, tilt, cold AC"

it's surprising how nice it is to drive a car that doesn't have any "quirks" or make crazy sounds or slurp gas like crazy.

scion was originally marketed to the first time car buyer market but they ended up appealing to the 35-55 crowd with the xB and xA. The tC was aimed back at the younger crowd and the no one has any clue as to why they didnt just leave the GT86 under the Toyota name plate instead of putting scion badges on it. I'm routinely showing over 30mpg right now.
