there's plenty out there under 5k. I know of a jeep grand cherokee for sale under 5k, it's 2wd. I think it's 3,500 but I can get all the exact info if interested.

idk how they would feel but the is300 market is right in that price range for a 150kish early 01-02 model
i know its not a jeep or mustang but na2jz is a pretty strong and easy to work on motor.

ive seen a few on cl recently just an idea.

actually 3.5......he got in a wreck on may 1st....pulled up to a stop sign and checked right, no one coming(around a curve)...checked left and saw a car but had time so pulled out without checking right again...someone came hauling ass around that corner and smacked him on the passenger side and spun him around and the other car coming from the left hit him on the passenger side again and spun him into a ditch. totalled the car but he was lucking the drivers side was never hit. He was sore for a day or two...pride hurt worse...hard lesson to learn

No joke. I got a lawn mower when I was 12 and was if I wanted to drive I'd be using it extensively for the next 4 years.
