you dont want your dog getting shot by police? pick a less bear-like dog and dont instigate a situation like that. i dont see why the cops should get bit before they put it down.... thats like saying drunk drivers should be allowed the opportunity to drive home first before pulling them over.
4 shots excessive? maybe... maybe not. i will say that if i was mad i would probably pop off several shots.
dog's fault? no. but shooting the owner wouldnt prevent anyone from getting mauled.

Dogs owner is an idiot. It's funny and cool to push the envelope with police until you get arrested an then something unfortunate like that happens.

For all the peoply crying about the dog being shot, If a 100lb dog is about to attack you and you have a pistol you are going to shoot it to.

If it was just my and the dog maybe but your telling me with all the other cops standing right there shooting the dog four times was the right thing to do? When i was in junior high school my friends and i used to play baseball at a park and one time a German Sheppard got off its leash and came chasing us but i didnt take the bat that i had in my hand and go Babe Ruth on his head. Hell the dumb ass owner wasnt resisting arrest until the dog was already shot so why not let him take control of his dog and then take him back into custody?

Bottom line, If I have a weapon and a large aggressive dog is running at me, I am going to use that weapon, whether it be a bat or a gun. You can choose to chance puncture wounds & torn flesh but I won't.

2 cops apprehending the individual and one addressing the dog. How do the cops know what the guys intent was? He already wasn't listening and that's why he was cuffed, so they should just uncuff him because of his dog? I don't think so.

Moral of the story is don't interject yourself into a situation and act like a possible threat. Unfortunate things like this can happen.

no ass hole he is not . i didnt say he was right in doing what he did. but that shit could have been avoided. one he was fucking with the cops 2 the cops didnt like the fact that he was recording what was going on. that guy was not in the way of what they where doing from what i see in the video. the cops just had to show him they had the bigger DICK . get it dick.

I didn't see the man with the dog interfering with the police scene other than replying back to the cops in the distance who initiated conversation towards him to start with. The cops should have left well enough alone when the man put his dog in the car and attempted to leave, but they had to come over and be badasses.

Apparently, these cops don't like cameras pointed at them, but they feel they can point one at you all they want. There was a case in Maryland a while back where a motorcyclist with a helmet cam had video of a cop cutting him off and pointing his firearm at him for a traffic stop. When the motorcyclist put the video on youtube, it went viral and the state of Maryland tried bullying him with federal wiretapping charges for showing the video displaying the real conduct of their officers to the world. The case went to a higher court and it was determined that anything that happens out in public is fair game for recording and the charges were dropped against the motorcyclist.
