It's getting pretty close. Anyone have an ETA on when they're gonna open registration for this event?

I got this email from Mike at Unique Tuning....

If your interested in joining us for an eventful day of drag racing, car show, or just attending please let me know. WeÔÇÖll be sending in our early registration fee On October 24th, so if you want to pre-register to insure you spot fill out the attached form & bring us your fee & weÔÇÖll make sure you get registered. WeÔÇÖll be meeting at Exit 8 I-95 Hardeeville/278 at the McDonalds/Shell Gas starting around 7am & leaving at 7:30am to cruise up. Or you can fall into the convoy at Exit 38 Yemmassee Hwy 68 around 8am. Thanks Mike Mchale

There is also a car show October 27th At Armstrong College if anyones interested. http://www.savannahmustangclub.com/pages/events.htm

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=14716

The SCMC/MGW Fall Drag Day will be on November 10, 2007. We will have the same format as the Spring Drag day with the bracket races being grouped into 3 groups. The groups will be as follows:

1. Ladies Open Race (Open to any type vehicle - non-members)
2. Men's/Women's Open Race (Open to any type vehicle - non-member)
3. Terminator King Race (Open to club members only)

Only races number 2 and 3 will be eligible for any cash award. Our goal is to have a $500.00 purse for each category of 2 and 3. Actual purse depends on the number of spectators attending. Fee is $50.00 with a $10.00 discount for early registration for club members and participants who previously attended this event. Registration will begin on September 26, 2007 when the registration forms go up.

Concerning category 2 and 3:

Category 3 is for SVT Cobra Club Members only in which members will be running against each other to see who is left standing. SCMC members who participate in the category 3 race cannot participate in the category 2 race. Club members must be driving a manual transmission SVT Cobra to compete.

Participants in the category 2 race cannot participate in the category 3 race so we do not have the same car in both races taking both purses. This is set up to have a little club rivalry while still keeping the same format and giving both members and their friends an equal chance to win a little spending money.

The format is as follows:

Test and tune -

During this time, you can grudge race some of your friends and non-friends.

Afternoon Bracket Competition -

See how good you are on knowing your driving skills and take home the cash to prove it. Once the competition is over, you will go back to test and tune while the awards are being figured out. There will be numerous awards and the ceremony is usually held around 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. Our rental ends at 5:00 p.m., you can stay all night for an extra fee.

We encourage all SVT Cobra owners to join our club and join in on the fun. The SCMC member that wins will be featured on our website and in our quarterly newsletter. (To join SCMC go to www.scmcstore.com and sign up on line.) If you pay on line before the cut off date, your fee will show $50.00 but your credit card will show $40.00 or $45.00 depending on if it is your first time running with us. Anyone who registers after November 1, 2007 will pay $50.00 including club members.

You must be a club member in order to run in the "Cobra Club" race. Yes, we know if your membership is current and we hope you don't try to embarrass yourself by running in this race when you shouldn't.

There will be a "Top 25" car show so if some of your friends just want to come out and show their car while watching the competition. The bigger the show turnout we can have at this event, the better the trophies will be to the winners.

Please help spread the word about our track event and car show.

I see that they posted a link with a registration form in it. I'll be printing mine out and sending it in tomorrow.

I got my calipers done this weekend and bought the slicks to I'll be able to get some good racing in on the 10th.

Can we get a count of who is planning on going? If there is enough interest, maybe we can get have a grill and throw a few burgers and dogs on it and actually have a little fun together without any whining. If I get my buddy Kenny to go, he'll cook whatever we bring and it'll be good. Ask Jeff, Mike and Darrel (LTD).

Cooking up some food would be a great idea. My wife and I may have to travel to Charleston for her eye surgery on Nov 8, so maybe I can talk her into stopping by Jackson on Saturday to see some of you guys run your high performance vehicles at the SVT track day. Of course I will be travelling in the minivan, so if I bring my helmet can I rent some seat time in a Lightning? For those that don't know me, I have experience driving both a 7/11 second street mustang and a 7/12 second street lightning. I was runner up at WFC 8 with over 100 cars in my bracket class.

This is a Email They sent to me:
Fellow Drag Racers,

The SCMC/MGW Fall Drag Day is coming upon us as we get our cars tweaked and tuned before we put them up for a couple of months. The event will be held on November 10, 2007 at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, SC. The event will have the same format as in the past only now we can guarantee the winners of each bracket race class (2 paying classes) a $500.00 first place award and a trophy that will tower most others in your house.

This is being done because of the sponsors that have stepped up and sponsored to give their customers and our club the financial support to help offset the cost of the event. This is a win/win situation for you as a participant. We no longer have to guess how much we will award, we know right up front what each winner will receive. I hope you'll take the time to personally go by and thank these sponsors for making this a fun event.

Sponsors include:

MGW www.mgwltd.com
Pro-Dyno www.pro-dyno.com
Macon-Moore Performance www.badassfast.com
Boosted Performance www.boostedperformance.net
MV Performance www.mvperformance.com
Amazon Racing www.amazonracing.com
Palmetto Pony Parts www.palmettoponyparts.com

Click here for a registration form along with rules and regulations of this event:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/s...t=14716&page=1

You're getting this e-mail so you will be aware of the cutoff date for "earlybird" registration. You can enter the event one of two ways, hard copy via USPS or in our store at www.scmcstore.com and register as a customer. Do not worry about the $50.00 fee, it will show $40.00 on your credit card statement. If you sign up after October 31, 2007 then you will not receive the $10.00 credit on your card and will be charged the full $50.00 amount. If you do a hard copy then your registration form envelope must be postmarked on or before October 31, 2007.

I also would like to ask you to spread the word about our car show. It was small in the Spring but it should grow during each event. The Show will be a "Top 25" Ford show with the trophies in the shape of the state of SC. Other awards will be in the shape of SC, too. I will not personally be there as this will be the first drag day I will miss as I will be at another SCMC event on that same day.

I hope you'll join us again and will help spread the word for us. If you know of any vendors that might like to set up, then please feel free to e-mail at the address below. Thanks and hope to see you soon...

Regards,

Tony Sorrentino

If you remember how to multi task while racing (shifting) I don't mind if you make a pass or two.

Thanks Kevin, but it looks like now we won't be coming. My wife's surgery date has changed. I will of course be looking forward to the videos

Yes it's a Lasik redo on the left eye. The good news is the cost is covered, the bad news is we have to travel all the way to Charleston from the western border of Mississippi. I was trying to consolidate the trip this weekend so I could attend SVT Track day, but it's not gonna work out. Of course I will let you guys know when I will be back in town. I'm dying to go out to eat downtown and do some window shopping in the market area

Good luck to all the racers this weekend and hopefully you will get cool weather combined with excellent track prep (this really helps the Lightnings with no weight on the rear). Please, please, please shoot some video and post it up so guys like me can drool over the 10 and 11 second cars and trucks running at the "House of Hook". I especially wanna see Spencer and Lurch make a run against each other.
