brandon, mikes car is not streetable. it can make quick runs around town, but i cant see drivin any long distances with it.

i have a little bit of an idea of what the rules are.....

like i said- i can show you time slips from a 5.20 car, a 5.50 car and a 5.60 car that can do that. But most would say "that's not a street car, that's a race car".

Grab a copy of the latest Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, one of them is in there this month, and won the Commerce event, posted the fastest pass of the year and fastest average, and dominated the Virginia event before losing an alternator belt in the water box on the last pass. All that with the car on radials for the first time and a progressive controller turned WAY back.

Like i said, just because they are fast, doesn't mean they aren't street cars.

i COMPLETELY agree. the guys that run in the NMRA events are running 8's and 9's. and they ARE street cars. IMO just because the car doesnt have some creature comforts doesnt mean it isnt streetable. with todays technology, achieving the above isnt hard.

Jeremy what are you talking about. That car can driven on the street without overheating!!! Don't have power steering but it handles well on the street. I know. I driven it on the street and does as good as the cobra. Fuel is expensive to burn for what he is running on the street, but that is his option. The car can be detuned for street use.

I keep hearing Powersteering,A/C., being said about a street car, but on all muscle cars all those thing were just a option, so say I go and buy a 68 dodge dart 318, no A/C and no powersteering from a dealership in 1970 for $3200 new and drive it home its not a street car???? Yall dont make no since I guess if its not a new mustang or a Lighting, its not a street car

That makes sense. Seems like if you got a fast car. Everyone out there wants to call it a Drag car vs Street car. No matter if you drive in on the street or trailer it! If your shit is slow. No one says anything about. But then again those are usually the ones complaining!

you are too easy to get stirred up, so i took the opportunity- you didn't dissapoint me.

but you are going to have to make up your mind which side of the fence you are on.....the post before this one you were dogging people out for what they considered a street car. Now you are making comments yourself about "making it down the road and back.......".

You probably sould show us how fast you are so we will stop picking on you. Lock up with Robert's 67 mustang and i'll bet the pot. WHAT NOW.

ok, what do you guys say about my friends car that i co piloted in HOT RODS DRAG WEEK?

in 06 he finished with a 8.56 average and went as fast as 8.26 without a single problem and drove the car on dirt roads, thru chicago and out on the highway and that was 1500 mile trip

this past 08 drag week we did a few weeks ago, car was running in the 7s but had some problems with the cam eating lifters over the 1000 mile trip.

runs on pump gas and averaged 10 mpg to boot

A real bad ass street car for sure! He needs to attend the NMCA race and take the record from Jeff Knox, which is 8.04..

By the way Munn, I have never stopped for stop lights at Fun Ford or NMRA, in the last 6 or so years, and I run in all but a couple of their events. Oh, and you cannot change tires, or add fuel, and its 3 back to back to back runs, not just one. Really fun class, and I make it the 30 miles, and run 9's in the quarter. (Well not right now, but next year.)...
