x2

When I had my GLI I got on a couple of the forums and I could not believe some of the people. The community was not welcoming and they thought VW was God's gift to creation and everything else was garbage. I also can't stand all the goofy ass stickers and ridiculous camber and all that crap. Fail

My wife has a 03 Jetta and I cant even get on VWVortex with out getting pissed off. I usually get on there for research cause something broke again. I never get any tech help. But if you ask " How to tuck" you will get a 10 page thread. I fn hate VW Vortex.

I just do not understand the "rust" trend. I guess it falls into line with the rat rod mentality... but still yet, they put really nice rims and stuff on them. Especially when someone has a nicer newer car and sands the hood to let it rust on the rest of shiny paint job. VW's are cool though. I would like to have an older beetle to drive for the fuel milage.

Did you go to drag night.

Ive always been a watercooled guy a1's and a2's but after spending so much time and money trying to make them fast I gave up. Friend of mine is aircooled for life so been trying to get into that. I want a sand rail so bad and put a turbo on it so I can so some wheel stands.

Yea I've gone to drag nights for the last few years. I grew up on watercooled's..my dad was a mechanic and mostly worked at the vw/ audi dealerships. We mostly had mk 2's-3's though... I've had a few...3 scirocco 16v's , a corrado slc vr6, passat vr6 5 spd wagon, jetta coupe.. numerous cabrios, a caddy and two 92 big bumper jetta's 1 was a diesel... Still have alot of 16v and scirooco parts we need to get rid of.. even have an alpine white scirocco w/black leather that needs to go.

I'm not a huge fan of the vortex or the stance guy's although I do like some of the cars.

The camber "tuck" is inherent with a swing axle car. No way around it (almost)

As far as the "rust" thing it's kinda hard to explain... My 56 is a patina ride although mines not fake. I cant stand people trying to make them look distressed but to see a car literally pulled from a junkyard and be put back on the road no matter how "nice" it is is pretty cool... and that goes for any brand... no-one would walk past a 56 bel air in the junk yard and it's the same way with a vw for me

I had a sand rail last year that was fun while it lasted before i parted it out... 2180 stroker w/dual 44's (going in my 59). I know entirely WAAAY to much about the early bugs and busses. My brother bought my 61 double cab from me... I'm trying to stick to type 1's.

Since you are obsessed with VW.....can you comment on the upkeep of a Phaeton?

I have a luxury sedan that can somewhat compare to one.....but seems like the Phaeton is just better in other ways....

Just concerned costs of maintaining would be out of this world.....considering its a Bentley GT....

I'm cmd's brother, here's a photobucket link

http://s1029.photobucket.com/albums/...VW%20Scirocco/

were asking 1000 for the car, we've got almost an entire truckload of spare parts that go with it, just looking to focus on the aircooled projects

I should have been more specific... I dont know much about the newer ones... those Phaetons are nice and have a pricetag to match... Just like any other "luxury car" they always are a little more to up keep.... but with proper upkeep most any car will live for a while
