Although I have never been on the Yorktown (Dad was Navy and I spent post HS years as a welder/fitter for Detyen's), it troubles me that the outside is in such piss poor condition. That thing is in need of some serious blasting and painting. Where is the pride?

BTW, nice pics.

Perhaps we should all do our part and go visit Patriots Point. It has been decades since I was there. I do have a door off the Yorktown in my garage. It weighs more than 400 lbs.

Great pics! It is EXTREMELY hard to take decent pics of fireworks!

A fellow redditor posted this one that I thought was cool as well:

I assume that's pretty much the spot to go to see fireworks in this city?

Thats a nice pic. Wish I would have had that vantage point.

There or Joe Riley stadium are the places to be in the Downtown area.

it comes down to $$
there are articles in the paper all the time time about thier funding situation, and it's tough.

wear some comfy tennis shoes for all the walking, but it is awesome to go see.

might wanna do the lunch onboard, because otherwise we got hungry, and the snack bars only had hotdog style stuff.
