Default Shadow Box just arrived :)

Wasn't cheap but well worth it for 20 years of my life. Made of mahogany. Should look good once I get all the stuff in it. One month left....where did the time go?

Duh, Mineman First Class (Surface Warfare).

I spent more time on Ship as a Marine than I should have.

Thanks

The Watch

For twenty years,
This sailor has stood the watch

While some of us were in our bunks at night,
This sailor stood the watch

While some of us were in school learning our trade,
This shipmate stood the watch

Yeseven before some of us were born into this world,
This shipmate stood the watch

In those years when the storm clouds of war were seen
brewing on the horizon of history,
This shipmate stood the watch

Many times he would cast an eye ashore and see his family standing there,
Needing his guidance and help,
Needing that hand to hold during those hard times,
But he still stood the watch

He stood the watch for twenty years,
He stood the watch so that we, our families,
And our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety,
Each and every night,
Knowing that a sailor stood the watch

Today we are here to say:
Shipmatethe watch stands relieved.
Relieved by those YOU have trained, guided, and lead
Shipmate you stand relievedwe have the watch!

That's pretty cool, and spot on.

I had 10 years when I got out. Didn't feel like leaving the family behind again, pretty sure my wife would have gone bat shit crazy. She was pretty stressed with the kids last time I deployed didn't want to ask that of her again. She didn't handle it well.

My hats off to you though.

Thanks Man Luckily for me I got married about a year ago and she never had to deal with the married deployments. I can imagine how terrible it has been for families to go without each other for 6 months to a few years at a time over and over. I can't count the amount of times I have seen cheating and divorces over it. Many have done as you and picked family before this career path and I can respect that.

Thanks! And congrats! I have been there a few times! I was fortunate in my rate to get three enlistment bonuses and my largest of 32,000 was tax free as I was in the Middle East.
