Well today was the day...officially retired! During my ceremony the command got me a Mossberg 590 shotgun...amazing. Fellow first class made the shadow box for it. It was actually Duracoated Navy Blue for me. I have never seen anyone ever get such a cool ass gift...but then again I have never seen anyone as awesome as me retire.

All joking aside......it was a great day! Here are the pics of the shadow box, shotgun and cake.

Thanks everyone! Just got back from the family and friends retirement dinner at Gennero's Italian restaurant. Tired...ready for bed...luckily I have a month and 20 days leave so alittle more money before it lowers significantly. Will throw my resume out but more importantly keep working on my BA. -Shane

Congrats, Shane! That's one of the coolest shadowboxes I've ever seen. I'm sure you'll treasure it and your memories forever.

You retired the same day as my brother (last Friday, the 7th). He spent 22 years in the AF (same AFSC as me) and I just went down to Ramstein AB (1 hour down the road) for the ceremony and typical "get shitfaced" after party downtown.

I've got 4 years and some change...can't wait!

Very cool...a great day for sure! Trust me, it will be here before you know it. Wish I had gotten ready for it more in advance as far as school and bills.

Thanks everyone! I deeply appreciate the kind words!! Not sure when this will set it in but I'm sure it'll be good and bad emotion wise. You get use to something and then it's gone. Thankfully, I don't have to go to work tomorrow!
