Did he press the gas by accident (@0:6) or did the second stage of nitrous engaged? Whateva it was totaled the car... It also sounded like something broked at (0:4) also.

Man that sucks. Thanks for posting the video. I didn't make it to the the track that weekend, and remember seeing pics and hearing about it.

No, It broke loose causing him to turn left and then the throttle got pinned after he hit the first guardrail.

Do you know Mark Caison? He talked about Al, a friend of his that lives in North Carolina, who had a Nova here years ago. We all cruised Rivers and Roberts Drive-in back in the 70's and early 80's.
Edit. It was you that I remembered. After I saw those videos, I remember your car well. Last edited by Whaler; 01-10-2010 at 10:42 PM. |

Me and Mark have a lot of stories! A lot! He was up here just a couple weeks ago and we went out in my orange 70 Nova for some street fun!!! Al

I recently found out that this is not the case. He was the one who pinned the throttle. He forgot to move his foot when he took it off the gas and he put it back on the gas pedal instead. It was his slip up not the throttles.

I just said what I was told. I did not bash him. I just said what happened from others who were even there and know him very well. I thought it by chance was some throttle stop electronics or something. But that is when I was gladly informed

I do not know nor am I going to speculate how the throttle got pinned. I was there on the line when this went down and helped to clean up the mess. It was a nasty wreck and a shame. That was a very nice car.
