Installed the LFP Radiator today
I was getting sick and tired of my stock radiator leaking from the lower transmission cooler fitting. I tried a few things to fix it and none worked. I decided to just replace the radiator with the LFP unit. Thanks goes to SBL03 for the great deal on the rad.
The radiator arrived yesterday and the mounting posts had been bent a little from UPS lugging around the huge box. I bent them back and nothing was damaged. The radiator itself looks amazing and the fin area is quite a bit thicker than OEM. I did weigh both radiators and the LFP unit is about 7 pounds heavier than the stocker. The installation was a snap. Just as easy as installing the stock rad. I just removed the trans cooler fittings from the stocker and screwed them right in to the LFP. I noticed that the bosses on the LFP unit were bevelled a little and looked like they could accept o-rings. So I put some o-rings on them for good measure and applied a little thread sealant. I did have to cut a small notch out of my fan shroud to make space for the drain. The OEM retaining bolts that hold the fan to the rad were too long and I had to use some shorter ones. Other than that it fits great. I haven't had a chance to drive the truck any kind of distance so I'm not sure about any temperature drop. Here's some pics of how it fit... |
