Is Heltra gunning for Foose???

Lots of extra weight loss stuff going on with both trucks. Foose keeps getting faster.. Heltra orders more parts.. Hmmm

chrisheltra 03-22-2012 02:18 PM

If I was gunning for Foose why on earth would I continue to run on pump gas?

BAD BOB 03-22-2012 02:42 PM

Theres a big difference in power potential between 93 and E85.

If I was interested in running his kind of times Id have to buy C16 because my fuel system wont support E85.

In all honesty though I hope every time that Rob goes to the track that he gets a new best and I know he wishes the same for me. Hes a good racer, competitor, mechanic and friend.

He has set the bar high and I hope to run his times or better in due time.

I have found out that its much more affordable to buy light weight parts to go quicker than it is to buy more horsepower. Its less stressful on parts too.

So what's next for dropping weight?

Id love to do a TH400, 9", manual rack, tubular lower control arms and fiber glass leafs but thats a lot of $$$$. I wish I had the funds to do an aluminum block too.

Great way to look at competition. I always hope those I am gunning for get faster. It makes me think and do extra. That is fun for me.

And +1 on weight savings being easier on parts. But as for price? At my level it is running about $1K per tenth by getting lighter weight stuff. Getting 2 tenths or better getting knocked off right now in upstate Connectiucut. Yep, a pretty penny.

And this is why a lot of True Racers don't give a shit about dyno numbers. They understand that there is now a bigger picture in the equation!

I played the weight reduction game years ago. It is expensive but damn its worth it! There is an article on the vette forum right now where one shop is challening another to see who can get their Z06 from 3,100 down to 2,800 while still keeping it street legal, and full interior. They both have by now spent close to 10k each and are still 100lb short of their goal. Cool thing is; they are posting the results of every part and its weight reduction for all to see!

Im sure it's been done........or has it?

Whaler 03-22-2012 06:23 PM

Turbos make more power than superchargers. One street legal Lightning is running 5.8's on a turbo 5.4 with a TH400. He's not on here though.

Rob's truck and Bad Bob have proven how strong the ls based turbo motors can run.

That's the only reason the Stang can beat Geos now. Took the spare tire and radio out. Weight reduction baby!!! Next up. Saturn's!

Really though 300 lbs is a good bit of weight on some of the newer cars. I stumbled across some place that sells repoduction body parts in carbon fiber. Was light (6 lbs for a set of fenders) but was damn expensive. Close to a grand for the set if I remember.

I have been 6.3 @ 110+ on a run with quite a bit of tire spin and at full street weight. Been a bunch quicker since, but the track refused to give me my slip. They kinda freak out when they see no cage after a run like I made...

They flow well enough. Just got to use what it does best. Although I dream about what the Trickflow "R" heads may do once released.

I read the title and was thinking next time at the track it would be easy to spot Chris....

http://img.chan4chan.com/img/2010-05...2844792015.jpg

Lol, honestly it's just fun racing and going faster. I think Chris is on the same page with me on that. The fact it's another truck is cool because the respect is there for going quick on a similar platform..

End of the day, chevy, ford, or whatever, it's good in my book if it's clean. Fast? Even better.

Any one going to Bowman tonight? We are loading up again tonight for more testing with my girls brothers bikes. We went to Carolina Dragway yesterday, first time I've ever drove out there and not raced, but fun to be on the pit crew. Might make a few hits at Bowman tonight though, looks like a nice day if the weather holds.

Doesn't matter, none of them have made a pass since I sold my truck.

Bill's truck is a daily driver, Tommy sold his, and Daryl takes his to the golf course every other day.

I took my bike to Darlington twice when I had it, not a cloud in the sky till I got to the track and then it was poring rain. Figured it was a sign maybe I didn't need to be drag racing it.

These guys can both ride pretty good, but you never know whats down on the track waiting for you.

Foose04 03-24-2012 01:22 AM

Here's a couple pictures, it was nice till I bought a house and didn't own a single piece of furniture. Then it had to go...
