Many ls boards will tell you to stay away from the msd coils. The stockers are still the best.

'''''''''''''i heard one day that there are stock coils out there with some heat sink fins on them and they are the best out of the shock but there are many making over 1000hp with stockers so i would stay away from MSD coils,,,,,,,,,,,,

I think I would just convert it to a Carb. and be done with it. Besides that's some tricky stuff that fuel injection junk. Then you only got one coil to mess with.

well is thir a coil amplifier.. because the truck ls2 coils arn't cutting it.
i tried ls1, ls2,ls2 car,ls2truck,msd ls2 coil and still have the same issue. i might throw a m&w ignition on it to amplify the spark and it will also alow for better ignition on the leading edge and traling edge. and on the dyno the msd coils worked exactly like the ls2 truck. where the ls2 car and all others acted like the ls1. what are some upgrades the ls guys are doing? amplifiers, ignition boxes, blaster coils hei tower coils? if i had hair i would be pulling it out i have been trouble shooting last 2 days on the dyno.

coil on plug setup is dieing out up top.
i have tried everything in way of swapping diffrent coils from vaqrious ls series motors and nothing helps. so far the most reliable combo is ... ls2 truck coils with msd 8.8 wires but it still does not cut it. i have toyed with the idea of a cdi or ignition amplifier. the issue is not timing drift or pre trailing edge ignition. these have all been ruled out on the dyno. the problem is at 8,200 rpms the ignition system just cant stand up and do its damn job.

what kind of car do you have them on? there should be no problem with the stock coils pulling to 8200. the only other option for ls motors is doing the front mount distributor

think we figured out the problem.
http://www.jfetech.nl/LS2-Coil pretty much the coils cant handle the high boost(still not at target psi) and rpm's a 1000whp ls motor makes less per cyl than our car so the coil has to work much harder.. we actually started seeing timing drift from the coils(checking oms) on the top end.. we spin over 8k np the car was still making power and torque at that point. we are throwing some new ls2 truck coils. new 8.8 wires and a cdi ignition box.. the box is a dual capacitor that will hold the voltage and will also do multispark (pre, during, post) and is an amplifier i will know mid week of the issue is resolved parts are being next dayed to the shop/dyno i hope this does the trick.
