An air locker would be great....I had one in the front of my Tacoma and a TRD rear locker....It was impressive what I could go thru with small tires....

If he plans to try any off-roading, that peg-leg rear is going to suck. I've never had any issues driving with the rear locked/welded/a spool......it just takes some caution in wet/slippery conditions.
