Just curious is that why everyone started turning the the exhaust up in front at a 45? Could that actually add down force

Yes it add's a tremendous amount of down force. Especially on the turbo cars. There is a lot of discussion on Yellowbullet about the "bull horns"

Those wheelie bars saved him. If it weren't for coming back on the bars hard enough to lift the rear tires off the track, the car would have surely flipped back onto its roof.
