Default Exhaust guru's...

Working on some suspension stuff coming in the next few months and while i have the k member out im thinking about making the switch to long tubes. I know i should see some pretty good gains with my setup and long tubes... but my question is:

1 5/8 long tubes run at a decent price for my car, but 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 are pretty much double the price. I want to do this once, am i going to regret not spending double the cash... or is the gain over the small one not enough to even consider spending the extra money.

1 5/8 run anywhere from 300-700 bucks
1 3/4 are about 900-1200
and most of the 1 7/8 stepped down to 1 3/4 are 1200+

Not trying to cheap out, but that seems like a shit load just for some pipes and that doesnt include the new midpipe ide have to get +$200.

Think about what your goals are and get the right headers the first time around. Kooks makes a great set of headers, exspensive, but the last set you will need to buy. Get SS headers and be done. Bad Bob can do everything else you need done downstream of the headers. He does great work and treats the forum members well.

I always heard too big can be just as bad as too small. Realistically the most power they will see wont be over 800rwhp. Anything more than that it wont be done without a turbo anyways.

With a whipple you need the bigger headers.

Go ahead and get a quality set of stainless $1200 headers now. When you want to go turbo, you can sell the headers for at least $600-$800 along with your Whipple to help pay for the turbo kit.

If i snag the bigger LT headers they also will have a 3" collector instead of 2.5. The x pipe for that is 400 bucks... which is crazy. What are the chances my current x pipe could be hacked up and stepped up to 3" at the end meeting the headers. Im going to have to swap the current x out anyways, but making it work might be able to save me $400.

Get the headers on, and let Robert do the rest.

Thats cool that's one of the reasons the price is so much higher. IMO Id rather spend the extra money on the bigger coated ones because the under hood temps will be kept in check more so than the small non coated headers.
