i doubt it would hold up if you fought it seeing as you have an actual muffler.

if its only 1 person complaining the officers know its just them picking on you, if the car was seriously too loud other neighbors would complain.

it would be hard to deal with people like that without stooping to their level which is probably what they want you to do so i'd just act like it doesnt bother you and smile and wave everytime you see them like its no big deal, which will aggravate them more than any action. if they arent threatening you or guest or verbally communicating then keep it to simple mind games.

i recently had a neighbor that kept calling animal control on me for my dogs, saying they never got fed etc etc. eventually i had animal control investigating me, weighing my dogs behind my back and checking food/water levels daily. in the end they let me know what was going on and told me everything checked out fine. the women that had been calling happen to have over a dozen cats in her house and got cited for neglect and was forced to get rid of most of them. the whole time it was going on i would wave and act like she was my best friend and she would just flip me off most of the time. all this started when one of her cats came in my yard and got eaten by my pit bull. she came and told me that my dog was eating her cat, i loved into my back yard and said "yep, guess you should put your cats on a leash or teach them not to go back there". she said "i'm calling the cops on you" which lead to animal controls investigation.

so glad i decided to buy land back out in the sticks, now my closest neighbor is harleyville's chief of police and i couldnt be happier.

No, unfortunately the law is so vague. The "unreasonable" noise could to be proven by his neighbor's complaint. Technically, your muffler needs to remain OEM. I believe there is a state law against modifying emissions and or factory parts. I'd also like to know if Matt's mufflers said "off-road use only."

It is just one of those things. State laws says you can't have anything obstructing your license place, yet every new car comes with a dealer plate frame. It's just the discretion of the officer.

FWIW, I had a neighbor that was like that. I threatened to put up a privacy fence on the side of the yard facing them and paint pink grafitti on it like a bilboard on the side that faces their house that says "Caution, please rev your engines when you pass by the crabby old geezers across from this fence love it." They knew I wasn't joking and the road in front of them on that side of my house (corner lot) has quite a bit of traffic. They left me alone, then died a lonely death. Apparently they were so crabby that their kids wouldn't even come visit...... Well now there kids live there now, and there all 20's girls (my kind if you know what i mean 250ish) and they party every weekend, I LMAO and say if those old bats could see it now.

Why in the hell do they have it out so bad for you? Was there a major conflict or something? I dont see why they are being such dicks. If you played the "free country" card and told them to get bent, maybe I could see it. Somethings up.

I would let the oil slow drip and call the EPA and tell them about the oil and how they are ruining the enviroment. Or there is always the "lewd act" you witnessed. Or better yet the life threats you overheard them saying.

mike's neighbor was like that, i got harassed by cops when i drove the camaro over there once back when it was nearly stock... lol

also, tape record the sounds of screaming and dying children and bury it next to their mailbox or near their bedroom window.

release 1000's of crickets into the a/c of their house.

tap into their water with red dye.

replace their pet with rabid squirrels.

cut their exhaust off and call the cops 10 minutes before they leave for work in the morning.

drill holes into their roof right above their bedroom, wait for rainy day.

put a burned out shell of a car in their front yard and call the HOA.

I really don't know. It all started when I let my dog walk from the Yukon the front door without a leash and one of the ladies freaked out. I told her I would have him on a leash next time... in my own yard.

Then the lady proceeded to tell me how she is on the board and how she controls the neighborhood. She told me who I should and should not talk to, she told me that I had less rights, and that I was devaluing her property by renting. She said that there was not a single thing that I could get away with, so I shouldn't try.

Lisa went over there and had a word with her about it and told her to leave us alone. She also told her that we would be forced to make complaints if the isolated harassment continued. All was quiet for a while and then she told Joe he could not park at the edge of the driveway while he was installing a light in my garage. That forced me to contact my property manager and the HOA manager... both knew exactly who I was talking about before I could mention her name.

Now keep in mind that this was a different person who called last night. However, it was her best friend/go-to-guy that lives a few doors down. My suspicion is that she called for the parking and he called for the noise. I don't see why they would come back a second time the way they did.

Lisa and I keep odd hours so it's not like we are around a lot. It has been come such a pain in the ass that we can not even have guests over with out them bitching. This isn't a damn retirement home and something has to be done. I pay too much money to deal with that BS.

Has someone call on me a while back that the truck was way too loud. Got pulled over and was really amused as my passenger was SLED agent. Kinda a funny moment. Almoat EVERY harley I have ever seen with a straight pipe is much louder than my truck.

If you get a ticket request a jury trial and speak to Tim Aimey.

Motorcycles have loud exhaust as to let motorists know that they are around. You will not be able to use that card that well around here.

But, I do think your car is not loud though and you are just being harassed.

I agree with random cruise bys. You know just people "checking out the neighborhood". Any time that would be good?
