Default transmission blues

My 07 mustang auto transmission went from fine to shit. I drove the car today it was fine. Hammered on it a few times no issues. Drove it home parked it and a few hours later went to move it and nothing. Put it in reverse and it kinda jumps a tiny bit but no moving. It then gives me a flashing od-off light and a wrench. I can put the shifter in first and it will move forward like normal just no reverse. While it does that the display reads odo error. Got a p0720 code which is output shaft speed sensor. WTH?

Put a scan tool on it and see if you get a reading from your output shaft speed sensor. If the odo reads off that sensor you will have an error.

Could be a bad sensor.

Unhooked the battery and reseated the box in the pass footwell. Put the battery cable on and... Taadaa it works. No fucking idea but it works fine now.

Because you cleared the fault from the computers memory. Whatever was causing the problem must be intermittent.
