Default which would you pick?

I'm looking at LS9 and LS7 cams right now. the only difference is the LSA. the LS9 is on a 122.5 and the LS7 is on a 120. I can get the LS9 cam for 100 bucks and the LS7 cam for 267. LS9 cam is shown to gain 30-35hp and 15-20tq. LS7 cam would assumingly add slightly more tq from tighter lsa.

which would CHP do? both would work with otherwise bone stock parts.

Trying to make 450whp and maintain nice car status... I'm pretty sure cam, pulley and tune will get me there. If i can find a reputable intake manifold porter, not sure if Ray fools with plastic parts, I'll maybe put a ported LS3 intake on it.

Also forgot that I want to change from the Rotofab intake to a VCM over the radiator intake lol

Why are you limited to those specific stockers? You could get a custom cam or browse the forums for used ones.. And I just saw that you want to use them with stock parts (pushrods, springs, etc) so that is understandable..but even still you could get something a little more aggressive.

Might be worth it to look into aftermarket cams. TSP or even calling Pat G and having a cam spec'd to your taste could net far greater gains. Just a thought.

Agreed...after the time and money spent swapping a cam you might as well go with something better than a stock LS7/9 one.

Roadcone is like me, he doesnt want to ruin the car. Sure you can make more with a lopey cam but no matter what IT WILL NOT DRIVE LIKE STOCK. And thats his point, he wants to make good power without any sort of sacrifice to the way the car drives. Not to mention they are factory cams and are fairly easy on parts versus the ridiculous ramp rates that kill valve springs in 10k miles like a lot of "custom cam" guys. And is it really custom if youre just picking out lobes from Comp's catalog?
