They canceled all the Nopi shows. Not something I care about. But because of that they are talking about trying to get something going in Savannah because of it. They have already said its for all cars not just a import thing. Thought I would tell you guys about it. Will let you know more when I find out. There saying it will be sept 20th. And there trying to get a dyno out there to.

Not a fan either. But they were atleast giving stuff for people to do that brings a part of the automotive scen together i.e. drag race, car show, bikini contests, vendors, swap meets, drift (yea...blah), fun/party atmosphere.. Where else can you go for that? No where in this state.
Stinks that they cancelled it. I planned on going later this year to one. Oh well. From pics/videos and everything I have seen. It sure beats a local carshow anyday.

Good riddings...Mike Meyers is a cock & that show was to big & annoying to be fun..Imagine 150 cars booming stereos at once & a bunch of baby gangsters acting really really cool...

Like I said. I didnt car for it, but it was good for the people that did like it. Hate to see anything for cars go. And this was just to let you guys know about what they are trying to do here. I want it to turn out good. And I know
it will be hard to have something for imports and domestics together, but maybe it will be alright. |

Exactly, the more "large shows" that are no longer, the more they close drag-strips and race tracks to begin with is just making it harder to have a good time. Wow, that just leaves local cruise-ins that have NO form of visual or worth while entertainment to go fight over a $5 trinket with the same 30 cars as last month. HELL YEA!
There has been huge shows/venues that have fallen in the past years that helped liven the automotive show scene and not make it suck ass. RESOLUTIONS (california) Many shows in the pigeon forge area Slam session (sc....supposedly this year was the last) WHITLEE shows (not worth a hoot, but still better than what we have here) Plus a good bit of other shows within the last 5 years. Lets not forget about all the track closings, Lowcountry / Cooper river Summerville speedway And many more throughout the country. Sorry, this may have made no sense. Its just that the more crap gets closed means more BS on the streets and the parking lot bs antics

JR, lowcountry closed because the guy went off and bought another track. Summerville closed because charlie powell's a two timing dick head that stole from people. It's a two way street man, the good and the bad. It's good powell's gone, bad the tracks gone. Good that the owner of lowcountry invested in greelyville, bad that the only track reasonably is dorchester. (for me anyway).

Property investors wanted lowcountry. And people living around it wanted it shut down because of the noise

...and the owner decided it was better to invest in greelyville and orangeburg, just like he did.

Quote:
The money that backed Lowcountry Dragway was from developers. There was also too much pressure to close the track because of the noise ordinances. When they started talking about mufflers being mandatory, many of the track only cars would not have gone along with it and raced elsewhere. Yes the track owners like to race, but money won out over racing. |
