Have you tried the local junkyards? LKQ has one im sure. I can get you a run down on what year/drivetrain have what gears and so forth. I can tell you that a 91 Eddie Bauer 4x4 has 3.55's.
Dont get ranger 8.8's either....

The 8.8-Inch axle used in the Explorer is highly desirable because it came with 31-spline axles over the typical 28-spline found in the Ranger version. ThereÔÇÖs a 20-25 percent difference in strength between this Explorer 8.8 and the Ranger 8.8. The bigger 31-spline axle accounts for most of that, but the 3.25-inch tubes also help. The 1991-1994 versions had 10-Inch drum brakes and the 1995 and newer models come with disc brakes.

The majority of these axles came with 3.73 gears and a Traction-Lok differential. The Traction-Lok can work very well and almost like a full locker if you apply a little brake pressure with your left foot while accelerating with the right.

I knew all about that Brandon. I was plan on going to LKQ and pull one out of an explorer. Never know who has what laying around on their property. 3.73's are the most common every now and than you can find a 4.10 setup. If not I will just order a set of 4.30's when the time comes.

Wade. Actually I am going to get 1 complete rear and another passenger side axle and shorten the rear down and get the axles and either rotors or drums cut to chevy bolt pattern. it is a "direct swap" but I rather not run ford bolt pattern and not have the rear stick out alittle.

Of course Perm. I have decided that while people are not making money or spending it that I will tinker with it every now and than. As long as I am not working or busy working on other things.

Brandon. Wasn't meaning it like that. Just that I already knew what you have claimed. You may only know me from owning GM's. But I have owned a couple of Ford's. I was looking at doing the explorer 8.8 swap into my 92 ranger I had awhile back. But was wanting to do an AOD swap as well due to the 302/c6 and 3.73's turning some high RPMS on the interstate everyday.

Werd. I did one in my turd I have and thats why I was posting. And for anyone else that has any ranger/explorer relatied stuff, ive found that www.TheRangerStation.com is the most helpful place to turn to.

Honestly, I do not plan on running that much power needed for a 9". A 8.8 can handle the amount I want to have. A 9" for only 160 hp is overkill.

Wanting to get rid of the 7.5.

If anything I would go 8.5" But those are hard to find for a s-series. So 8.8 is quicker to find and easy to obtain.

And honestly, I will not pay for zacs 3rd member. I am a heterosexual and married to a female with a child you pervert.

Want to do it with stock suspension. Either on the black truck or if it does leave me. Than I will do a v8 in the brown turd.
