A lightning should work on a radial without any issue. A radial likes weight.

If those Lightnings were front wheel drive they would have the weight in the right place to run DRs.

Another reason why those cars hook so good is the track was worked on a lot. I saw a post on another board where the track was so sticky that it was taking people's shoes off as they walked across it. A track that sticky will make for some good traction.

Almost anything can hook on a radial. Not everything needs a slick slapped on it. Especially with the 275 class. They are running way faster than 99% of the people on this board. Hell record on a 8.5" tire is in the 4's in the 1/8th also. SUSPENSION SUSPENSION SUSPENSION is what everyone pretty much says.
