try some Firecore50 wires on it, they should help out a bit over the msd's

i will get on it. im looking at a 25ft/100ft spool of the wire.

pretty much the coils cant handle the high boost(still not at target psi) and rpm's a 1000whp ls motor makes less per cyl than our car so the coil has to work much harder.. we actually started seeing timing drift from the coils(checking oms) on the top end..

we spin over 8k np the car was still making power and torque at that point. we are throwing some new ls2 truck coils. new 8.8 wires and a cdi ignition box..

the box is a dual capacitor that will hold the voltage and will also do multispark (pre, during, post) and is an amplifier

i will know mid week of the issue is resolved parts are being next dayed to the shop/dyno

i hope this does the trick.

I'm late to the party What kinda of motor is this and what are the plugs gapped at?

I don't have miss fires @ 9200rpm and 26-30psi I haven't put any more to her so I can't say over that. I am also running my coils @ close to full dwell.

What kinda of managment system?

ok so ill do a little fill in.

ive been back and forth between the dyno(nc) and home(gtown)

the ignition system is a hybrid. its a distributor based system that uses the dist as its pick up point. allot of troubleshooting has been going on. and well the walls keep closing in on the ignition system.

ls1/ls2 coils that are self ignited are only good to 1.25-1.75(on the high side) hp per cylnder. so in a v8 1000whp is a sneeze. in 4 cyl thats making 2+ per cyl the ignition system takes a complete dump. no matter dwel adjustment.

things we have done.
sheilded wire to distributor(eliminates signal interferance)
back to resistor plugs(helps keep signal from getting lost and interfeering)
thicker and better chassis grounds(obvious)
capacitor(holds volts for the coilpacks) this is more precaution to keep enough juice at the coil you would be suprised to see voltage drop in higher rpm(but it happens)

msd/tailor 8.8 custom wires(because its not plug and play)
hks ignition amplifier

on to what i have learned/figured out..
an ignition amplifier only works with dummy coils(non self ignited)

ls2 truck coils are not the right part number for the bigger coils(the newer denali 6.x is the ones you want) the rest are all the same ls1-ls2 ect ect.

capacitors are great for maintaning voltage on a high whp coilpack setup(much more consistant voltage thru rpm/load range)

the coils are maxing out no matter dwell again these are the ls2 coils with heatsink. i am upgrading to the denali 6.2(or whatever) big boy coilpack which are supose to be twice as potent as the ones listed above.

what we thought was timing drift(still may have some but nothing like first thought) is not the issue. at first thought it had plagued us but nailing it down to ignition fully is key.

we run an aem ems.. but as of monday the car will be outfitted with a haltec s2000 platnium pro. i wont touch to much on this subject just yet...

the plug are
ngk heat range 8 resistor plugs
have run 3 diffrnet sets. from iridium to inset contact tips to non resistor
gapped at 18-20
we have read the plugs for timing following the strap. the timing map is nice it sits where it should with the q16

last resort:
well the last resort would be to run a halleffect based ignition. or a timing wheel/cam trigger setup. not that it will effect the ignition system . which will really nail down the fact that the cop setup is the 200% problem. an amplifier on a self ignited coil is pointless the circitry in the coil wil only flow so much no matter the signal it recieves and in fact will wreck havoc on the dwel and ignitor. the amplifier ended up causing more ploblems than help. it was trying to fire the coil 3times in diffrent voltages which in return threw the coil signal way off. you can not amplify a signal that is internal it will noly amplify a dummy coil that knows no diffrent.[lus the fact you are amplifying a singal pre ignitor. you would need to amplify post amplifier for it to work

any thoughts?
