How about this for a street car shootout.
Drive to track Pump gas Street tires Ins. and tags. Any engine, any power adder. Meet at crazy Ds and drive to Bowman, 30 min cool down. Having to drive 45min on I26 at 70mph and having to race on pump gas will keep alot of wanabe street cars out. Everyone throw in $25 or however much and pay winner and runner up. You can have a couple empty trailers come along incase someone breaks. One pass then race off a ladder. This shootout could be twice a year.

Not a terrible idea, Jeff. I, personally, will likely not have anything worth running-still; but ture street cars drive to the track. Who gives a damn about a/c and other ammenities? If you are willing to spend a half hour, or so, in the car, on public roads-it's a street car. If it HAS to be trailered, it's a race car.

Anyone with a race car that wants to run this class has issues. I am sure you guys can find a simple set of rules that works. Street tire with no less than XXX tread wear rating ???

If you want to keep fast cars out. The only rule you need is NO DRAG RADIALS just regular street tires. That way all the fast guys have to race in Top Dog.

Not that it really matters as I haven't seen the track in forever. But while I like the idea of the True Street list, I know I for one don't even own any "street" tires. I have ET Streets for the track and Hoosier drag radials for the street that I drive around on. My car is a 100% stock motor/trans/suspension car but would be useless and dangerous at the track with just street tires on it.

I agree a 110% on this stuff. I don't understand the racing on street tire deal, might as well give any and all AWD cars the edge.

lol i still dont understand the tire thing. why even allow tire swaps at the track if the tires are supposed to be DOT legal? also if you do allow tire swaps, why limit to dot dr's?
im gonna go trade in the vette for a gtr skyline. awd and launch control, add a 150 shot, win win win. -Carl
