You shooting at Trader World this Wed nite? I'll be there. I'm pretty sure we will be shooting with the lights ON this time! I really do like those lights out shoots like we did last time, though. Ain't nothing like real world practice!

If anyone on the board here wants to do some pistol shooting on the move, come check us out at Trader World range Wed nite at 6:30 to sign up. We shoot at Trader World every 2nd and 4th Wed nite. Shooting starts at 7:00 and costs $10. Bring at least 100 rounds of ammo, your handgun, enough magazines to shoot at least 18 rounds at once with just simple magazine changes, strong side holster, and some eye and hearing protection. We shoot at least 2 courses of fire and sometimes 3 if time permits. Shooter performance is measured by how long it takes to shoot a course in conjunction with hits on target. Non-prime hits on target add penalty time to the raw time it takes you to run the course. The lowest adjusted time for the night wins.

For the revolver gurus out there, make sure you have enough speed loaders or moon clips to make it though an 18 round course of fire.

After experiencing shooting on the range under time stress while doing reloads, shooting on the move and from behind cover, making sure you miss the innocent targets, etc., you won't even want to shoot from a booth at just one target ever again like on a regular range visit. A regular range visit will be just like wasting ammo after you shoot at one of these action shoots.

I am interested, is there a link to a website for this place?

I don't know if Trader World has a website or not. It is located at 7163 Cross County Road. It is within sight distance diagonally across from Paintball of Charleston.

What about ATP? Don't they do bi weekly matches too? After getting use to shooting at ATP, Traders World is always a let down for me. I keep saying I'm going to shoot some IDPA but I haven't done it yet.

ATP action shoots are on the 1st and 3rd Wed nites and they start at 5:30pm. They only run one course of fire that is always a 30 round course for $7.

Trader World action shoots are on the 2nd and 4th Wed nite and start at 7:00pm for $10. At least 2 courses of fire and sometimes 3 are run. We actually got 4 courses of fire in tonite--Whoo-Hoo! Round count is variable depending on what the scenario setup is.

I can understand how the Trader World range would be a letdown for you if you are shooting from the booths. During the action shoots, we are in front of the booth line and moving all over the place. It's a totally different experience.

Comparing one place to the other, we have more fun at the Trader World shoots. In the ATP shoots, you will only be moving laterally while engaging targets. At Trader World, you may be moving forward, backward, sideways, sitting down while shooting, shooting in the dark with your surefire light, etc.

That's a mighty fine shootin iron you got there. I'm guessing $2k and up for that Infinity???

You ought to get back into shooting some USPSA. Palmetto Gun Club runs their monthly match every 1st Saturday of each month. Registration starts at 9am and shooting starts at 10am. $15 bucks for 5 courses of fire. BYOA (bring your own ammo). Usually you are back home by 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

I don't want to get that habit again. 1000 to 1500 rounds a week is a little pricey these days. And I don't think my belt will fit anymore.

1000 + rounds a week? You didn't tell us that thing was belt fed!

I hope you were rolling your own at that consumption rate!

I had a Dillon 1050. Shooting 9mm for GSSF, .40 in limited, .38 Super in open, .223 and 12ga in 3 gun. The rounds add up quickly. Hell I'd have over 300rds in mags when I got to the range. 20 minutes later I'd be loading them up again.

Damn, dude! You had it baaaad! You definitely came to play! Sounds like you were at the certified "alcoholic" stage of lead consumption!

That Dillon 1050 is the cats ass for a reloading machine! It makes my Hornady LnL progressive seem primitive.

How long has it been since you shot regularly?

anyone you guys doing cowboy action shooting?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1VEy4X7IAc

that's crazy skill, the 3 gun in their competition is impressive: six shooter, long gun, shotgun.
IIRC (not likely) i think it was like 21 shots in 19 seconds from 3 guns (someone may correct me)

we went out past Summerville & watched them once

SASS-Home of Cowboy Action Shooting

Features this organization where each participant is required to adopt a shooting alias appropriate to a character or profession of the late 19th century

I gave it up when I moved back to Charleston, 6 years ago. I still shoot some, mostly to show off and teach people how to shoot. I sold my SVI race gun, Super X2, and reloader(dies, brass, primers, powder, and all). Still have some Glocks, S&W 57, SVI limited gun, some rifles, and a few shotguns.
