A brief run down: Many years ago Dante built a cast iron 5.4 engine for a customer. Since, he became a very close friend and has been a returning customer ever since, (we also built him the World's first GT500-L). Several months ago he asked us if we would build him a new 4v engine for his race Lightning, and now it is ready to install.
With business continually growing it is hard for us to get to the track with the DMP truck, so the question arose, I wonder what the DMP race truck would do with a more average built engine powering it. The plan was set in place; swap Dantes stroker for our customers 2.5 year old stock stroke stock bore cast iron 5.4 with over 600 passes on it (most over 20#) and let him race a whole season as we finish building his race truck. Weekend before last Dante, I, and NoSurprise made the swap. Off he went with the DMP truck and his engine in it.
Fast forward to last week to the local 1/8th mile. His old best to date was 6.67 ET. Now he drops 2# of boost, drops timing, and burns the slicks good. Here's the results...
