I just got a 2002 camaro bc4. (cop car) automatic. Trans went out on the way home. Didnt want to pay to get it built so I got one from LKQ. Had to get it out of a GMC Envoy. Only thing I could find with the trans still in it. A week later we took it on vaction. Went to Kentucky then P.A. 2000 miles. It did fine for the most part. Only thing was I had to keep it under 74 MPH. If I went 74 or higher the check engine light would start flashing and the converter would unlock. Making it turn about 200 rpm more. What would cause that? Was it just heat? I havent really checked, but you would think a cop car would have a trans cooler.
Also it could shift a little harder a full throttle. Is there anything I could do about that myself. Not looking for it to rip my head off. Just a little firm. Something I can .Thanks.

If the light was flashing, it most likely was a misfire. When the PCM sees misfire it will unlock the converter until the condition goes away.

If the condition only happens in the higher speeds, I would look into a fuel or catalytic converter (or both) issue first.

Pull the codes first and see why the light was on!
Second yes you can bump the pressure up,give the set screw about 1/2 turn on the epc.

The only problem with that is as long as he is on a stock calibration, the torque management may still cause the shifts to feel a little weak.

Every time we build a l60 for a performance build we bump up the epc!
Never had one issue. And we are talking one/ week.

Worst problem we have found is a bump at engagement,as long as the customer can live with that its gtg.
I would much rather have a bump on engagement and be able to feel the trans shift nice.

Agree.

Key term is "can live with that". I had one like that and I was ok with it except for the 1-2 shift, but I have the luxury of writing my own custom calibrations to deal with it so it isn't as big an issue for me to increase pressures and taylor shift feel to my liking (or any one elses calibrations I do).

A TCC slip code will cut the light on and abandon any further commands to apply the TCC, too. Pull codes to be sure of what the PCM is having an issue with.

OK. Didn't think a engine code would cause that. Ill check the code when I can. Btw. Car has long tubes and no cats. Oh yea. As soon as you got the speed back down under 74 it was fine,
