Default 4.6 liter motor whine noise

I have a 02 ford crown victoria(P71) that makes a whineing noise when accelerating. It sounds like a turbo winding up. But without a turbo I don't know how to fix this problem. Its coming out of the air intake manifold. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS????

How sure are you that it's coming out of the intake? We see a lot of front-end accessories make the same type of noise when the bearings fail.

Mine has a whine sometimes too... Then I tell the chick to shut up or shes walking home and it tends to stop!

Really though check your intake tubing for holes or mis alignment at the clamping areas.

Try disconnecting your alternator and going for a test ride. Alternators with one shorted diode out of the normal 6 will make a whining noise.

When I take the air filter cover off. Its louder and you can feel the vibration in the air intake tubing.

Try pinching off the hose that goes to the idle air control valve, and then the one to the pcv. If the noise stops with either of those, replace the offending part. IACs like to hoot this time of year.

In the past 2 years, I have had 14 different Retired Police Cars in my driveway and none of them made this noise. I have also driven over 50 other Crown Victoria in the last 10 years for work, and I would just do a high speed brake test to shut up the whining thug in the back seat! BUT I am clueless on how to get the sound to stop under the hood. I changed the EGR Valve, thinking it was part of it... no luck

I do appreciate the input and advise everyone is giving me!!!
